Our story

Hey there!

We are the Bennett family: Adam, Mindi, Sierra, Kaia, Tristan, Ruby and Muir (trail names: Kidnapper, wildflower, Amazon, Honey Badger, Turtle, and Ladybug).

We set a goal in 2012 to hike the Triple Crown together as a family (the Pacific Crest Trail, the Continental Divide Trail and the Appalachian Trail). It took us 7 years to get ready physically, mentally and financially.

On March 6th, 2019 we set off on an incredible adventure heading northbound on the PCT. We faced a plethora of obstacles, but enjoyed meeting other hikers from all over the world, many very angel-like trail angels, and saw some of the earth's most beautiful vistas. In 2020, we were ready to thru-hike again but covid restrictions deterred us from hitting the CDT or AT…so we stayed closer to home and hiked the Pacific Northwest Trail (the youngest of the National Scenic Trails).

We were back on track in 2021 and completed as much of the CDT as we could safely do together (it was a big snow/fire year). Then in 2022, our oldest daughter left home to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and the rest of us (plus a cousin) set off on the Appalachian Trail.

It is impossible to sum up what all this time together and in nature has done for us as individuals and as a family. We hope to encourage and inspire more families to get out on long-distance trails by sharing our stories, gear recommendations (a favorite topic!), photos and videos. Thank you for visiting our website!
